2015 Honda CR-V

The 2015 Nissan Xterra is a rugged, off-road ready SUV, that comes with a powerful engine and some up-to-date features. It should be on your to-drive list if you’re considering adding a new SUV to your garage here in the Elgin or Crystal Lake, IL area. The problem with the Xterra is that there are simply more advanced, high-tech, and efficient vehicles on the market today, such as the current 2015 Honda CR-V. Don’t you want a vehicle that offers better fuel economy, higher safety ratings, and more high-tech features for your family? The CR-V is obviously a better choice than the Xterra; read on to find out why!

Performance and Efficiency

The 2015 Honda CR-V is rated at a remarkable 27 mpg city/34 mpg highway/29 mpg combined* when equipped with front-wheel drive and continuously variable transmission, based on EPA estimates. That blows the 2015 Nissan Xterra out of the water when it comes to fuel economy, as the Xterra is only rated at 16 mpg city/22 mpg highway/18 mpg combined. The Xterra does make more power, but unless you’re planning to tow something exceptionally heavy, that’s not going to do you any good and you’ll just be paying a lot more for gas.

The 2015 Nissan Xterra is not rated by the NHTSA except in the rollover crash test, where it received a three-star rating. The 2015 Honda CR-V, on the other hand, received a better four-star rating in the rollover test, along with a four-star overall rating and a five-star rating in the side crash test.

In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tests, the Xterra received a score of Good in the moderate overlap front test and side crash test, but only an Acceptable rating in the roof strength test and a Marginal rating the head restraints and seats test. The CR-V received the Good rating in all categories, and even earned a Superior rating in the front crash prevention category thanks to its optional automatic collision prevention braking feature.
