The 2017 Chrysler 200 and the 2017 Honda Accord are both upscale midsize sedans that are among the most popular options in their class. Either one could be a good choice for your family, as they’re both efficient, high-tech, and fun to drive. But which one will be the better option? We’re here to help you decide.

Efficiency and Performance

When you peek under the hood of these two cars, you’ll notice similar powertrains. Consider their specifications:

  • Chrysler 200: The 200 starts with a 2.4L four-cylinder engine that creates 184 hp and 173 lb-ft of torque. The LX model of the 200 features an automatic nine-speed transmission, and it’s capable of up to 23 mpg city/36 mpg highway/27 mpg combined in estimates from the EPA*.
  • Honda Accord: The base Accord uses a 2.4L four-cylinder that makes more power at 185 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. When equipped with an available continuously variable transmission, it earns better fuel economy estimates at 27 mpg city/36 mpg highway/30 mpg combined according to the EPA*.

In National Highway Traffic Safety Administration testing, both cars also earned the top 5-Star Overall Crash Test Rating*. In individual tests, the FWD 200 fell behind, with only a 4-star rating in the Rollover safety test, while the Accord achieved a 5-star rating in that test*.

Features and Options

When it comes with standard features, there are some significant differences between these two models. The Accord gets Bluetooth audio and phone connectivity, which is not standard with the Chrysler 200. The Accord also gets daytime running lamps and 17-inch alloy wheels, and the 200 has neither of those features.
