The 2016 Honda Civic Named Overall 2016 Best Buy by KBB.com
Only a few months into its production, the first model year of the tenth generation Honda Civic has already won serious critical acclaim. Kelley Blue Book has named the 2016 Honda Civic its overall 2016 Best Buy. That means that the Civic also wins the small car category. In related news, he 2016 Honda Odyssey, the 2016 Honda Pilot, and the 2016 Honda CR-V also won Best Buy Awards in their respective categories, meaning that Honda very nearly swept the Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards! Read on to find out what sets the Civic apart and what to look forward to when you take it for a test drive here in the Elgin and Crystal Lake, IL area.
2016 Best Buy Overall Winner: 2016 Honda Civic
The 2016 Honda Civic took home the Overall Best Buy honor as well as the Small Car Best award in the annual Kelley Blue Book awards. Kelley Blue Book takes into account many different factors when it comes to evaluating what it means to be a Best Buy. They include reliability scores, predicted resale value, fuel costs and fuel efficiency, as well as many other factors, like features and options and safety. Reviewers didn’t hold back when it came time to praise the new 2016 Honda Civic.
“The completely redesigned 10th-generation Civic has raised the bar for compact cars in general to a new level,” wrote Kelley Blue Book judges. “This Japanese compact sedan alters the playing field with its attention to detail, use of high quality interior materials and world-class drivetrain featuring Honda’s first mass production turbocharged engine.”
Kelley Blue Book puts the Civic at the top of its class, thanks to new engineering that makes it more powerful, efficient, and spacious. While the Kelley Blue Book writers favored the 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, there’s also a new 2.0L four-cylinder base that delivers better figures than the outgoing 1.8L four-cylinder base engine. It might be a tough choice if you’re looking to get behind the wheel:
- The 158 hp 2.0L four-cylinder engine earns an EPA estimate of 31 mpg city/41 mpg highway* with continuously variable transmission
- The new 174 hp 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder earns an EPA estimate of 31 mpg city/42 mpg highway with continuously variable transmission
But Kelley Blue Book also wrote, “The best part of the 2016 Honda Civic story is yet to come as the sedan will soon be joined by other variants, including a coupe, 5-door hatch and sporty Si and Type R performance models, the latter of which hasn’t been seen in the U.S.” We’re all looking forward to these new models here at Brilliance Honda of Crystal Lake!
