The 2016 Honda Pilot Earns NHTSA Five-Star Safety Rating
The 2016 Honda Pilot has officially earned top ratings in this year’s government crash tests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that the Pilot achieved the five-star overall crash test rating, with a four-star rating in the front crash test, a five-star rating in the side crash test, and a four-star rating in the rollover crash test. All Honda Pilot models qualify for the top five-star overall crash test safety rating from the NHTSA.
The Honda Pilot: A Safe Midsize Crossover
The 2016 Honda Pilot earned the five-star ranking from the NHTSA, putting it at the lead of the midsize crossover segment when it comes to safety and security.
The Pilot also earned top scores from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). When equipped with the Honda Sensing package the Honda Pilot scored the ‘Superior’ rating in the Front Collision Prevention category. The Honda Pilot also earned ‘Good’ crash test scores in all IIHS tests.
Every Honda Pilot model comes standard with safety features like:
- Anti-lock brakes and brake assist
- Six airbags
- A rearview camera
- Stability and traction control
The Honda Pilot is available with the Honda Sensing system, which includes forward collision warning, automatic forward collision prevention braking, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, and an adaptive cruise control function. The system is a $1,000 option on EX and EX-L trim levels and comes standard in the Pilot Touring and Elite models.
